Celsior or Lexus LS, is one of the most celebrated cars of the Toyota Motor Company. It is the flagship model of the Lexus range of luxury cars from Toyota. The car was launched in 1989 and is still in production. The car is a four door full-sized luxury sedan in the same category as the Merc S-Class and the BMW 7-Series. The Lexus LS, which was called Toyota Celsior until 2006 in Japan, has the quietest cabin in the world. It has been awarded JD Power "Best High-end Luxury Sedan" twelve years in a row which is a record. Launched in 1989, over the years it has undergone many changes. The present Lexus LS 460, 460 L and the hybrid LS 600H and 600h L are the 4th generation cars. The first generation car was the LS-400, debuted in 1989. The car came packed with a 4.0L V8 engine, 4 speed automatic transmission and a rear wheel drive. The second generation LS400 was introduced in 1995 which had the similar engine as the previous model but it was upgraded and came with a 5 speed option. Even though the car looked similar to the '89 model, most of the components of the car were changed or upgraded. The third generation of the car was called LS-430 which came fitted with a 4.3 L V8 engine generating 290 hp and a torque of 434 Nm. The car could accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds. The transmission was optional 5-speed or 6-speed. The LS-460, LS-460L was the 4th generation car that was launched in 2006. A hybrid version of the car the LS 600h and LS 600hL were also launched in the same year. the LS 460 and LS 460 L are packed with a massive 4.6 L V8 engine generating 380 hp and 498 Nm of torque. The car is also credited to be fitted with the world's first 8-speed automatic transmission. The 600h L is an all-wheel drive hybrid version. The average cost of LS 460 L in the US is $81,988.
