The Corona was a mid sized family sedan which was made in Japan from 1957 to 2001. The car was also introduced in other markets. It was removed from the American market in 1982 as it was replaced by Camry in 1983. The Camry went on to become one of the largest selling cars in the U.S.
The T100 series of Corona was introduced in American markets as compact car which was then converted to a mid-sized sedan. In the European markets, the car was marketed in the large family car segment. The T100 series were available in US as a 4-door sedan, 2-door hardtop coupe and 4-door estate version. The engines came with a capacity of 1.6 and 2.0 liters as well as 2.2liter in niche markets. Over the years, the car was upgraded many times and the T110, T120, T130, T140, T150, T160, T170 and the T190 were introduced. The T170 series was later sold as the Carina II in Europe.
The T190 was Introduced in March 1992 at Geneva Auto Show as Carina E, a successor to the Carina II based on the T170 series. The T190 was introduced with engine capacity of 1.6, 1.8, or 2.0 liter.
The last of the Corona series was the Corona T220 Avensis and was sold in Europe as Toyota Avensis. The engines for the T220 were 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 for both gasoline and diesel.
