Crown is a luxury saloon from Toyota and came in full-sized sedan and station wagon variants. The car was one of the first Japanese cars to be introduced in American markets. The car did not do very well there and was discontinued in 1971. The car still sold in Japan and other Asian countries. Till now there have been 12 generations of Toyota Crown. The cars are distinguished by the 'Crown' badge in the front. The first models of the Crown were the RS S-30 Crown. It came with a 1.5L and then later 1.9L “R” line of four-cylinder engines. The Toyota Century, the limousine model from Toyota was based on the Crown and was initially introduced as the Crown Eight. The car came with a 2.6 liter V8 engine. From 1955 till 2006, there have been 12 generations of the Crown starting from the first S30 to the latest S180. S170 debuted in 1999 and was produced till 2003. The S170 4 door Saloon came with three trim levels Royal, Majesta, and Athlete. The cars came with engine choices of 2.5L, 3.0L or 4.0L. The latest model of Crown is the S180. It also offered 3 series of cars, the Royal, Majesta, and Athlete. The Royal as well as the Athlete came with V6 DOHC engines with 2WD and the Majesta was fitted with a V8 engine with an optional 4WD variant.
