Toyota FJ70 refers to the 70 series of the famous SUV, the Toyota Landcruiser. The FJ70 was launched in 1984, to replace the older FJ40 series and is in production till today.

The new 70 series was introduced to replace the much celebrated 40 series. The newer version retained the rugged and offroad qualities of the FJ40 with new styling and drivetrain. The 70-74 series were short wheelbase versions and the 75 were the long wheelbase ones. The SUV came with soft top, hard top as well as the pickup version.

In 2000, Toyota launched 78 series was a pickup and the hard top 79 series. Landcruiser 75 series replaced the aging 45 series with hard top and long wheelbase. Most Landcruiser 75s were produced produced as cab chassis pick up model or a 2 door troop carrier version.

The 78 Series came packed with a turbo-diesel engine which delivered a of power 122kW at 3400rpm and a torque of 380Nm at 1400 rpm.The 2001 version of 78 came with air conditioning, single CD player, etc. The vehicle has a rear leaf springs, live front axle and coil springs, four-spot caliper front disc brakes.

The Landcruisers are known for their durability. They are used in extremely heavy duty work in very remote areas and have proved their worth. They are excellent choice for rallys too. But mostly they are used by common people for rugged heavy duty work.
