Toyota Previa

Previa is another MPV or minivan from Toyota. The car is sold in different markets with different names. It is also called Toyota Estima in Japan and Toyota Tarago in Australia. The Previa debuted in 1990 and the present generation is the third which was launched in 2006 and is in production till date.

The car is similar to other MPV's such as Honda Odyssey and the Renault Espace. The car comes with a choice of 3 door as well as four door version. The Previa has been replaced in America by the Toyota Sienna.

The first generation Previa was introduced in 1990 and continued for a decade with regular modifications and upgradations. Initially the Previa had a single rear sliding door. The car fitted with a 2.4L 4 cylinder engine mated to a 4 speed automatic or 5 speed manual transmission. Previa was known for its ride quality and handling due to the unique mid-engined layout. The car was available in both 2WD as well as 4WD variants.

Second generation Previa was introduced in 2000. The car came with a choice of new 2.4L petrol and a 2.0L diesel engine. The car featured a standard 5 speed manual and optional 4 speed automatic transmission. The new generation Previa removed the power blues which the previous version faced. The new Previa was based on the Camry platform. Even the headlights were similar to those of the CAMRY. Later on a hybrid car, Estima Hybrid was introduced in the Japanese market based on the celebrated Hybrid Synergy Drive technology of Toyota.

Third generation Previa was launched in 2006. The apart from the design, new features included a 2.4L as well as 3.5L V6 engine. A second generation Estima Hybrid was also launched.
