The Toyota RAV4 is a crossover SUV, first introduced in 1994 in Japan and in '96 in US. The full form of the RAV4 is Recreational Activity Vehicle Four-wheel drive. The car paved the way for other compact sports utility vehicles such as the Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue or the Hyundai Santa Fe. The SUV is front engined with option of front wheel drive or all wheel drive. The first generation RAV4 came with a body style option of 2-door or 4-door SUV. There was also a 2-door convertible option. The engine was a 2.0L Inline 4 engine with a max power of 120bhp. The transmission was 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic. The second generation RAV4 was introduced to the market in 2001. It reduced the power blues of the previous models by fitting a new 2.0L engine which produced 148bhp of power, a significant jump from the previous generation RAV4's. MOreover, the number of trim levels were also reduced. The new model was only available in four-door body style in America, although 2 door version was sold in some european markets. 2004 brought an upgrade to the RAV4 with a much more powerful 2.4L engine. The third and present generation RAV4 is a 4 door compact SUV. There is a choice of 2.0L and 2.4L gasoline engine as well as a 2.2L diesel engine. A 3.5L V6 engine model is also available in American market.
When shopping for a new or used car it is important to do your research. Used cars may or may not carry baggage. You ought to study the CarFax reports. You ought to see the mileage the vehicle has and how many miles it is expected to have during its lifetime. It also important to analyze the expected car maintenance for a specific car. If the vehicle owner took great care of the car, has had all the oil changes, you will save on car repairs on a yearly basis. That savings can go towards the purchase of a better vehicle. This is why we tend to recommend Toyotas. They last a long time, are cheaper to maintain, and are very reliable. |
